Senior Project Engineer

We are inviting dedicated, hard-working, and experienced senior engineers to join our growing firm. A successful candidate will become an integral contributing member of our tight-knit engineering team, working on small to multi-million dollar projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design of industrial equipment foundations and anchorage
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel pedestrian bridges;
  • Lead projects of various sizes from preliminary evaluation to final submittal
  • Prepare engineering calculations (by hand and computer-assisted)
  • Prepare structural sketches and drawings
  • Conduct engineering investigations, site visits, and structural observations
  • Compile reports, memos, specifications and other engineering documentation.

Education & Licensure:

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • MS/PhD in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • California Structural Engineer license (preferred)
  • PE licenses in other states (desired)

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in structural design of industrial structures, tanks, foundations, equipment anchorage
  • Established familiarity with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS, and other structural codes
  • Proficiency in steel and concrete design
  • Forensic engineering/investigation experience (preferred)
  • Authorization to work for any US employer without sponsorship

Skills:

  • Effective communication, writing, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Drafting, AutoCAD, and finite element modeling experience
  • Proficiency in structural design (particularly, seismic & wind design)
  • Familiarity with structural engineering/analysis software (Enercalc, Visual Analysis, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to dynamic project and client requirements
  • Ability to articulate ideas and concepts visually, contextually, in writing, and verbally with clients, engineering team and staff
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously

  • Gathering, researching, and organizing project design criteria and parameters
  • Conducting foundation and anchorage design using custom in-house structural analysis software
  • Developing finite element analysis and beam on elastic foundation models
  • Working with IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and other codes
  • Drafting and detailing based on analysis and design results
  • Preparing engineering calculations (by hand and computer-assisted)
  • Preparing submittal package for client and permitting review

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis). Master's degree a plus.
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Good verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • EIT
  • Familiarity with structural engineering/analysis software (Enercalc, FEA, etc.) preferred
  • Working knowledge of structural design (particularly concrete design) a plus
  • Experience with Apple Mac platform a plus

Proficient with:

  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
